Berlin my love

(Sorry long and maybe boring

)
Sometimes when live stresses you you need a timeout.
So my girlfriend and I decided to run away from all working/studying troubles and escape for some days to Berlin. We found an asylum at Brossboss Entertainment (das freundliche Medien-Imperium von Nebenan..) the friendly media empire next door which belongs to my friend Steffen. We took Emily, my girlfriends creepy Pullip (I' m scared of Dolls!), along with us to take some "cute" Photos of her and after a 5 hours drive we arrived the wonderful, old, ugly, smelly, historical, big and beloved city Berlin. Steffens flat was amazing: The classical Berlin-Style flat decorated all over with historical plastering and a lovely balcony. We felt home immediately

The first day in Berlin started strange: We were in Berlin now but we did not felt "arrived". So we needed our traditional ritual: We ate a classical Currywurst (Curry sausage) at the famous Curry36 and then we arrived in Berlin

After this classical dinner I wanted to take a look if the Brandenburg Gate was still there

After visiting the Gate and touching it (I have to touch everything ...) I was convinced Berlin is still Berlin

We made the classic "Touri-Tour" and visited the KaDeWe (A historical, overpriced shopping-center) because my girlfriend was searching for clothes for Emily (the creepy little doll) but we just found more creepy (REALLY creepy) dolls and no clothes for her. We ate dinner at "the steakhouse" in Kreuzberg and full and tired the first day in Berlin ended. But I did not want to bore you with every day, I'll sum up the highlights:
One day we stroll at a cute alternative street watching the people and the shops and found a beautiful place with a little atrium designed like a mystical garden. While we were bewitched by the atmosphere we noticed an open door with an invitation and followed and found ourself in a wonderful little atelier-studio, full of dolls (how matching) It turns out that this studio belongs to an artist who designed literary dolls with matching clothes. Each one a handmade little artwork, very minimalistic but nevertheless very lively and extremely expressive. I took a picture of those dolls with Emily which was a HUGE contrast and I think the artist fell a little in love with her
What I love about Berlin is the whole creativity you can find everywhere: Graffiti-Art, Handmade crafts, wired clothes... Whatever you are looking for you can find it there. So I wanted to visit one of the most famous alternative galleries, the Strychnin-Gallery. Their actual exhibition was "Robots" not THAT interesting for me but I just want to be there to take a look what so many people are talking about. And the reality was kind of sobering because its a very small place, not very spectacular. But I liked the floor where you can find a working example from every artist who had an exhibition there. That was pretty nice. My girlfriend immediately fell in love with a 12.000 Euro doll from

, an artist she really admires. I felt a little upset about the visit there and we went back home. Some shops later my girlfriend found another gallery called Box 32 and just went in and I followed in thoughts and as my noticed the shop I felt like someone down the rabbit hole who landed directly into live Deviantart

Pictures (digiprints) of artist I admire like

,

and many more were shown, it was great. So if you ever visit Berlin and if you are excited about Digital-Art I just can recommend Box 32. Some may claim that they did not show originals but how can you show an "Original" of a digital painting

Nevertheless you can find a lot of wonderful fine art prints which are really worthy to see. (Not to forget some shops later you can find a shop called "Die Fleischerei" (= the butcher shop) where you can buy sewn sausages and more, my girlfriend as a cake-sewing master was blown away)
After the whole shopping and sightseeing I became hungry and that is a huge problem in Berlin: SOOOOOOOOO many restaurants and possibilities. I love Alice in wonderland but my way is not the one of the white rabbit: I follow cats and we found a restaurant with a relaxed sleeping cat on a chair so we HAD to eat there (and it was delicious, so always follow the cat

) BTW: The sparrows in Berlin are very tame and sometimes it tend to be a little naughty but I really liked that.

Another sightseeing pearl in Berlin is the "Gardens of the world" Park. They had a lot of theme gardens like a japanese one, a chinese one and many more. Sadly we choose the day with the worst weather but nevertheless we had some dry minutes to enjoy the park. Next time I visit Berlin I will come back. And then I will visit Berlin and never come back
Wow, THAT is a lot of text, I hope it was not too boring but I'm one of those excited tourists who torture guests with a ton of selfmade slides

What can say: My batteries are loaded again, the art-block has some ugly cracks (DIE Artblock DIE) and I was able to focus my aims a little more.
Have a purrfect time
