Shelter Blues by hoschie Shelter Blues by hoschie
Nancy plays the cat-blues on her invisible harmonica:

"The chistmas-tree it shines so bright
your heart is full of joy
For some of us there is no light
most of us were meant as toy.

Now we are here alone and sad
No family on our side
all we want is a cosy bed
and a family which gives us pride..."

Keep in mind that a cat isn't a toy and do not belong under the christmas tree. Most of those "presents" end up in a shelter :sniff: So do a good deed in the new year and adopt a shelter cat for life ;-)

Name: Nancy, Mother of little Sheila and Alex
Location: cat aid organisation
Status: found a new home with Alex

Reading that made me sorta sad, cus its true- a lot of people get animals then just discard of them like they are disposable piles of trash-
I am on of the few who call my animal companions "Family" they aren't even pets in my mind- they are COMPANIONS- I kinda dislike the word "Pet" in a way LOL.

I just adopted a kitten a little over a week ago from the shelter- and WOWZER he's a handful (He's trying to get on my laptop as we speak) but I wouldn't trade him for anything. He's my fluffy little friend, and just the thought of giving a cat/kitten-dog/puppy a false sense of freedom, love, companionship and home is just disgusting to me.

I love this photo by the way- this cat is adorable and I'm glad she found a good new home ^^ This is a great shot, I love it when cats nom on their own paws XD LOL-

Davon, Haustiere zu Weihnachten zu verschenken halte ich ohnehin nichts. Wenn das Haus fertig ist, adoptiere ich eher eine Katze. Muss ich allerdings dann noch mit meinem Freund klären ...

I think that's so disgusting when people do that. If you want to get someone a pet for Christmas, take them to the shelter and have them pick out the pet themselves. But then again I guess I'm the rare soul who thinks of pets as family. Other mentalities I hate: People adopting kittens and then returning them because they "didn't realize how much of a handful kittens are". Sorry, but that's like putting your child up for adoption because they're a "handful". It's just part of the deal when you decide to raise a baby, whether it's a human or furry baby.

I know exactly how you feel and I have to give you so much credit for saying what you did.If you do not want a pet DO NOT GET ONE! simply to discard of it like it's a bag of garbage to be thrown out in the street or back to a shelter after giving it a little freedom.People unfortunately don't always relate children with pets...I DO! I feel that a pet is just as precious and as innocent as a baby no different to me.To me a pet is family a part of my soul and nothing or no one comes before it!

I'm typing this with my kitten clinging to my shoulder, purring like a madman. He's such a shoulder-cat, and he loves snuggling more than anything. Yeah, he was crazy when he was a kitten, but I can't imagine giving up such a sweetheart because of it >.<;;;

I totally understand. We are on the same level here!
LuLupoo Featured By Owner Dec 24, 2012
You know something I totally agree with everything you said in your comment, when I had my pets they "were" my family. And a couple were from shelters . There a lot that would agree with you on that subject. I have to applaud you for that that comment.
SkyGoddessofDoom Featured By Owner Dec 24, 2012
Thank you! My darling 8 month old kitten is from a shelter and I spoil that guy rotten. I also used to volunteer at shelters so I saw similar things happening all the time and it made me angry. Of course we can't stop a person from giving up their animals to a shelter (and, it's certainly better than just leaving the animal on the streets) but I always did want to go on angry rants at the people who would show up a few weeks later with their newly-adopted kitten, wanting to return it.

Your very welcome, you know I couldnt work in a place like that, because I would either get fired or arrested for hurting some of these
people that call themselves humans. But you are very right, the shelter is better then the street. Do you have a photo of your baby? I have been to a couple of shelters in the past because lots of people dont think about their pets if anything should happen to them. So what I would do because I had my own at the time, I would make an appt. for them to get neutered, and never go back for them. But these were places that did not put them out. Humane Societies. I always had a plan if I should go before my pet.

[link] He's a sleepy boy :3 His name is Neville.

I'm all for no-kill shelters. If I had the time, money, and space I would open a no-kill shelter for as many different animals as I could.
LuLupoo Featured By Owner Dec 25, 2012
Aww he is a beauty, and such a cute name Neville. Hey Neville, I hope you got lots of presents from Santa. :) If I was rich, there would never be any strays or any animal without a home. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photo of your boy. Merry Christmas :holly:
