I used a series of photos (my first low light shooting with candles) as references.
I copy the outlines from one photo. Than I used the picture on my second monitor as reference.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you too, can become great.

Hey Hochie,

Unfortunately, in order to write a critique, a deviant must have a premium account. So, I'm sending a critique as a comment.

If your intent was to create a composition with a strong square movement, to the right of center, you succeeded magnificently. There is also vertical movement from many of the elements: the sword, the candles, the pirate's arm. The overall effect is to create a huge amount of energy in a basically still scene.

I love your candles. They are impressionistic, in that one cannot see the individual elements of edge of the candles and the flames. They merge smoothly into each other, creating a hot light source.

The perspective on the skull is wrong. The viewer should not be able to see the whole right cheek bone. There are several stock artist who have posted really good skull stock. A Lindowyn-stock example is at:

Finally, I think that you could add an interesting element by creating a small image inside of the shadow below the skull's left cheek bone. It almost looks as though another, tiny skull is looking out of the window between the upper cheek bone and the lower jaw bone.

Overall, an excellent work, on a currently popular theme. If you were to offer it as a print, I believe many people would be pleased.
