Alice in a Cup Version 2

Description

Yesterday I was not realy happy with my picture of alice-overdose in a cup....
I like the CGI and the Compositing and Ophelia is a beautifull Alice :-)
But the picture was lifeless ( not strong...)
I believe I worked for the 3D and compositing and lost the final picture :-(

I think about it and make a new Version with a better perspective, remake the cup and a better pose...

Do you like this version more ?
What can do to get a better picture ?

Rendering in MAYA 2010 ( with MR and fluids )

I think this is a really amazing piece. So amazing, I had to respect your wishes for a critique. I saw the other piece, and I must say that I do like V.2 better. It's a better pose. Also, Ophelia has more life in her eyes in this picture. The cup and water are also blended together more smoothly than in V.1; specifically the bottom. I especially like that you took into consideration the handle of the cup, and that it's slightly distorted from being shown underwater.

In both pictures, I think that the biggest improvement would be in Ophelia's expression and body language. She seems very relaxed, and I think the picture could be improved by a stronger stance/expression. If you're going for the original Alice, she should be more frightened and confused. However, if you're going for an Alice with an attitude or another non-Canon (non-Original) type of Alice, she would have an appropriate expression.

If you want a better picture, I think the best thing would be to have a pose and expression that makes Ophelia the focus, while making the viewer believe she's in this situation. Yes, it's a fantasy scene, but all Fantasy has some basis in reality -- even something as simple as the emotions of the characters. Her expressions and body language just need to be a little more intense, rather than relaxed and calm like she's sitting in an intertube.

All that said, I think it's a great piece and you still did an amazing job! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/f…" width="15" height="14" alt=":+favlove:" title="+favlove - :+favlove:"/> Good luck.
